Maybe too late to apologize, but never too late for kinetic text…

Each week, we’ve taken a look at some fun examples of kinetic text in videos. It’s a technique we really like here at RapidFire Video. We incorporate a bit in each project we work on and it’s always fun to see what other people are doing.

This week, I found a short clip someone made using the One Republic song “Apologize.” Take a look…

I really like what they did with the clock to show the passing of time. Really illustrates the whole concept of “it’s too late.” Cute video. Creative ideas. Good job!

Because I like it so much…I won’t ask the peeps who created the video to apologize for butchering the word “apologize” (e.g. “Britishizing” it with an “s”). They’re forgiven ;)

I Love New York…and I Love Kinetic Typography…

I freakin’ love New York. Who doesn’t? New York is this magical mysterious monstrosity of a metropolis…and I love it. I haven’t been fortunate enough to actually live there but I have spent some time exploring the city and seeing the sites.

What do I also love? I freakin’ love cool kinetic typography. As I’ve mentioned in other blog posts…we employ the technique regularly in our own videos. We also like to poke around YouTube and see what kinds of cool things other folks are doing with kinetic typography…to get ideas and stay on top of the trends.

So when I saw this video that combined my love of New York with my love of kinetic typography…I had to share it. My favorite part is the liquid droplet that ends up in the martini glass of popular bars.

…just watch it. It’ll make sense when you see it…

*sigh*

I really love New York.
And I really love kinetic typography…
I also love unicorns and puppies. And ice cream. And spaceships. And polka dots. And marshmallows. And sand castles. And rainbows…especially double rainbows

I wonder if I can find a video that features all of THAT together…

The 8 Rules of Fight Club

We love kinetic text. We also love the movie “Fight Club.” Remember that one? With Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. Right right.

So we found this cool example of kinetic typography where the producer illustrated “The 8 Rules of Fight Club” with text.

My favorite part was the illustration of the third rule: “If someone yells ‘stop,’ goes limp, taps out…” What’s your favorite part?

Psychadelic Psychiatric Answering Machine

Kinetic text can be so freaking awesome if it’s done right! I blogged some really fun examples here and here…but to be honest…this one takes the cake. It’s absolutely brilliant.

I don’t know which disorder was illustrated most humorously…the multiple personalities one is awesome…and of course the paranoid one had me cracking up. I think I like the delusional alien mothership the best, though. Does that make me delusional too?

Heh.

Social Life, With Friends …Kinetic Text

Remember the kinetic text post from May? The one using dialogue from Ocean’s Eleven? So cool, yeah?

So here’s another example of really cool kinetic text…but this time it’s using a poem written and read by Kenneth Koch.

My favorite part was the way they animated the word “lockets.”
What about you? What’s your favorite part?

Kinetic Text-pression

Kinetic text is one of the techniques we employ in the RapidFire Videos we produce. It’s the art of expressing feeling, meaning or emotion through the use of animated text. Kind of like using text as visuals…and we find that this is a very unique tool for getting a point across.

There are tons of examples out there for you to check out. There are songs, movie dialogues, television shows, famous speeches. Everything.

From time to time, we’ll share some of our favorite examples of kinetic text. For starters, here’s one that someone created using dialogue from Oceans Eleven.

My favorite part was the way he animated the word “elevator” like an elevator. Quite clever.
Pretty cool, huh?
